In Tokyo, there are wide variety of places tourists love to see. For example, old Japan like temples and shrines, and new Japan like Akihabara and Harajuku. I would like to help you find natural and historical wonders and feel Japanese culture and lifestyle.

I made the list of popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, which I strongly recommend. Please choose some places from the list, and I will propose a one-day tailored tour for you.
If it's a little bit difficult for you to select some places, just tell me what kind of places you want to go and what kind of activities you want to try and enjoy.
The key point of this tour is flexibility. I will arrange our itinerary depending on your interests.

My recommendations are as follows,
- 1. Asakusa area. You can feel a nostalgic atmosphere of old Tokyo.
- 3. Tsukiji area. Enjoy many kinds of fresh seafood.
- 4. 2 Observation room of Tokyo metropolitan city hall. You may be able to see Mt. Fuji if it's a fine day.

3.1 Fish market　The Outer Market (Retail Shop Area)

4. Shinjuku area
4.1 Shinjuku Gyoen national Park (Admission fee : 500JPY)
4.2 Observation room of Tokyo metropolitan city hall ; You can have a sky view of Tokyo at the height of 202m. It’s not as tall as the Sky Tree, but it's tall enough and free of charge.
4.3 Samurai museum (Admission fee : 1,900JPY)
4.4 Robot restaurant (Admission fee : 8,000JPY)

5. Harajuku area
5.1 Meiji Jingu shrine (Admission Free, Japanese garden : 500JPY)
5.2 Takeshita dori (Shopping street) ; This street is the center of Japanese Kawaii (Cute) fashion and very popular with young girls.
5.3 Ota Memorial Museum of Art (Admission fee : 800JPY) ; Ukiyoe is a Japanese traditional wood-block printing developed during the Edo period. It affected impressionist artists in Europe like Gogh and Monet.

6. Shibuya area
6.1 Shibuya scramble crossing
6.2 Depachika (the food section in a department store basement) ; It's like a food museum. It carries many kinds of food from prepared delicacies to delicious imported confectioneries.
6.3 Samurai Armor Photo Studio (Option 13,000JPY) ; You can wear Samurai Armor and take photos ( 2 poses / 10 shots).

7. Akihabara ; Akihabara has two faces. The first one is electronics shops town and the other one is the center of Otaku culture.

8. Ueno area
8.1 Ueno Park
8.2 Ameyoko (Shopping Street)
8.3 Yanaka ; You can feel an old style traditional town. There are many small temples, boutiques and ateliers.

9. Tokyo Camii ; It’s the largest mosque in Japan.

We visited Japan for the first time in August 2019 and flew to Tokyo from Vancouver before boarding a cruise ship. We spent two nights in Tokyo and had a day in between to visit Tokyo. My wife and I enjoy walking and looked for a private walking tour. During our internet search we came across a private walking tour offered by Nippon Plus. The day walking tour was reasonably priced, so we booked the tour. The tour guide, Hideaki Murayama (Mura) e-mailed us and introduced himself soon after I booked the tour. He asked what we were interested in, to which we responded. He sent us places of interest to visit with the relevant YouTube links. My wife and I reviewed all the YouTube videos and let him know which visits we would like to see. He then sent us an itinerary for the day, starting at 9am till 5pm. A week before we departed to Tokyo, Mura was in touch to confirm our arrangements for the day. Mura met us at 9am at the hotel, and we proceeded with the day journey. We walked, experienced the Tokyo under ground trains to get from one site to the next, visited and experienced the sites we wanted to see and then he returned us to our hotel before 5pm. Mura was very responsive to his e-mails, knowledgeable and made good recommendations. He is punctual, pleasant and had a good command of the English language. We enjoyed listening to the history and stories relevant to the sites. We would not have experienced Tokyo to such an extent in a day if it was not for Mura. This was a very pleasant experience and the best investment we made visiting Tokyo. We can highly recommend using Mura for the one day guided tours of Tokyo.

My husband and I would absolutely recommend Mura-San as your guide! He is on- time, kind and pretty knowledgable. Through him we got insights into Japan as tourists and as a local.
