Kamakura is called “the Kyoto of Eastern Japan”, because it used to be the capital of Japan from 12th to 14th century, and the first government by the Shogun, a top of samurai warriors, was located here.
Kamakura offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments.
In this tour, we will visit three famous temples and one shrine.
Personally, I love Kamakura so much and strongly recommend this tour to you, because there are so many beautiful places here.
The basic itinerary is as follows,
9:00 Meet at your Hotel and move to Kamakura by train.
10:30 Arrive at Hase station.
- The big Buddha in Kotokuin.
This temple was built in 13th century and the most popular sightseeing spot in Kamakura. (Entrance fee:300 JPY except the guide)
- Hase-dera Temple.
This temple was built in 8th century and it has a nice Japanese garden, statues of Buddha, view of the Pacific Ocean and a unique cave shrine. In June and July, hydrangea is so beautiful. (Entrance fee:400 JPY except the guide)
- Hachimangu Shrine.
This shrine was the official guardian shrine of the Kamakura shogunate and worshiped by warriors as deity of the military.
- Hokoku-ji Temple.
This temple was built in 14th century and has a beautiful bamboo forest. This temple is something different from other temples in Kamakura ( Entrance fee : 300 JPN except the guide).
16:00 Leave at Kamakura station and move to your hotel by train.
17:00 Good bye at your hotel.
