One Day Trip to Kamakura Exploring Bamboo Groove at Hokokuji Temple

Kamakura is just one hour train-ride from Tokyo and a beautiful seaside city with many historical sites. The first feudal government, Kamakura shogunate, was established here in the end of the 12th century.
In this tour, you'll visit three famous temples and a shrine: Hase Temple, Kotokuin Temple, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, and Hokokuji Temple, which has a beautiful bamboo grove in the ground. You also have a delicious lunch at Komachi street, most popular shopping street in the city. note:These sites can be changed by overcrowding and traffic jams in the city. It sometimes happens in the high season of the spring and autumn.

Course(Visiting Spots)

1.Great Buddha in Kotokuin
With a height of 11m (36 feet), this is second largest statue of Buddha in Japan. Five minutes ride by popular Enoden line from Kamakura station.

2.Hase Temple
It's supposedly founded in the 8th century and has enshrined a 9m high(30 feet) statue of Kannon Bodhisattva. You can also enjoy broad view of town and sea from an observatory.

3.Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
It's originally built in the 12th century by the first shogun, Minamoto Yoritomo, and located in the center of Kamakura.

4.Hokokuji Temple
A Zen temple built in the 14th century. It is famous for its bamboo grove.
