Meiji Shrine and Modern Japanese Architecture in Tokyo Omotesando

Tour feature and details

Meiji Shrine is one of the most popular shrines in Japan. Constructed around 1920, the shrine is dedicated to the deified spirits of the Meiji Emperor and Empress. And it attracts more than three million visitors during the first three days of the New Year Holiday alone.
Except for this busy New Year time, it is a sanctuary in the middle of the city away from all the hustle and bustle of modern Tokyo. You can feel the atmosphere of a deep forest and the ancient Shinto spirit because there are more than 170,000 trees.
Omotesando is one of the liveliest and most sophisticated shopping district in Tokyo. In the nearby Omotesando area, here you can see many examples of Tokyo's finest modern architecture, including Corp Olympia, Omotesando Hills, TOD's Omotesando, the Prada Boutique and the Nezu Museum. Besides being a beautiful building, the Nezu Museum contains an excellent exhibition of traditional Japanese art along with beautiful garden and tea room.
